AIG

Art as Inspiration

“AIG” stands for Anni (Albers) Inspired Generator, and it explores the repetition and organization of color. Anni was a textile artist, and half of the outputs use rectangles in a referential way. The other half is more digitally inspired and replaces the rectangles with diamonds. The algorithm selects a subset of colors from 13 pre-defined, 9-color palettes. Some of these palettes are used in other projects of mine, both published and yet-to-be-released, and 3 were created by friends!

AIG is SO COOL partly because not all BLONKS will be able to successfully shapeshift into this state. The algo uses recursion - yes, on the EVM - but I didn’t hamstring the code so that it would always execute with standard gas. Instead, I let the AIG renderer run wild, and sometimes the art it wants to make is just too recursive for the network. This means that about 33% of all BLONKS will not be able to render an AIG, but that leaves about 3k that can opt in to one of the renderer’s slots.

Is it crazy to build something that can break? Maybe, but why not! This is cryptoart! If we can’t be wild here, then where can we?

Anyway, note, these artworks WILL NOT change art on transfers (all previous BLONKS renderers do, being responsive to owner address). AIGs are purposefully more static, and WYSIWYG.
